“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly.”
—The Little Prince

An aviator crash lands in the desert. Could that be a mirage? No, it’s a little prince from another planet! When the two become unlikely friends, they learn lessons from the desert’s many creature—from the sly Fox and the deceitful Snake to the vain and needy Rose—and discover new ways of seeing and loving.

Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman’s opera based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le petit Prince returns for all ages! The beloved story comes to life with “spirited doses of stage humor for the kids and nostalgia-tinged arias for the adults” (Washington Classical Review) in this fantastical and tuneful production showcasing the Cafritz Young Artistsalong with the Youth Chorus.

When this touching opera first premiered for WNO audiences in 2014, tickets quickly sold out. Here’s your chance to experience the whimsical tale that has captivated hearts for over 80 years.

Micah Gleason conducts and Corinne M. Hayes revives Francesca Zambello’s original production.
